Bill got started in the travel industry while in college. For several summers he worked as a driver/guide (Jammer) at Glacier National Park MT. After college Bill worked for 3 years as operations manager in Palm Springs CA for a prestigious Destination Management Company learning just about every aspect of the convention and incentive travel market.

After that he worked full time as an IT specialist for a Utah school district. From 1990 to 200 Bill spent the summer vacation months working as a tour director and cruise host for Holland America/Westours conducting motor coach tours in the Canadian Rockies and intermodal cruise tours of Alaska. In 2003 he attended the International Tour Management Institute to become a certified guide and tour director.

In 2004 he spent the summer working as a tour manager for American Orient Express and Montana Rockies Railtours. In 2005 he started a working relationship with Western Leisure Travel out of Salt Lake City, a relationship that continues to this day.

Shortly after its creation in 2003 Bill became a member of the Utah Tour Guide Association, he currently holds the office of President for that organization. He also participates in the regular tour guide certification program sponsored by UTGA. He feels very strongly about "raising the bar".

2012 was a big year for Bill, he retired from his school district position of 22 years to become a full time tour director. With the additional free time he has been able to accommodate a much larger number of tours than was previously possible.

While Bill is comfortable conducting tours throughout Alaska and western North America his true passion is America's National Parks. While in college he did biology and geology field work in many western National Parks giving him a rare understanding of these special places and loves sharing this knowledge with tour members.

His enthusiasm for tour directing is apparent to his tour members as he shows them what he refers to as "his backyard". An active hiker he is also well acquainted with most of the trails of the western National Parks. Whether it is a local Salt Lake City tour or a multi-day regional tour his enthusiasm and attention to detail never fails.
